Plans for a new mosque to be built by the Islamic Center of Temecula Valley were approved unanimously by the Temecula Planning Commission last night after a heated public debate.
"We would like to thank our fellow citizens of Murrieta and Temecula Valley who came to show their support on this issue, they are the true voice of our community, the voice of tolerance, mutual respect and equal opportunity for all," the Islamic center's leadership said in a written statement.
The statement went on: "We hope for those who have misunderstanding of our religion and our people to get more education and interaction with the true teaching of Islam and Muslims and reject bigotry and stereotypes."
